Hugo Lake lies in Choctaw County Oklahoma on the Kiamichi River which runs through the Kiamichi Mountains.
The Hugo Lake Dam was commissioned as a part of the Flood Control Acts of 1946 and 1962. Construction began in the late 1960s and was finalized in 1974.
