About Honeoye Lake

One of the Finger Lakes

Honeoye Lake is one of the eleven Finger Lakes, some of New York's top vacation locations. This lake is 1,772 acres in size with an average depth of 16 feet.

Honeoye Lake lies between its neighbors Canadice Lake and Canandaigua Lake. Like the other Finger Lakes, this lake is close to Lake Ontario and Rochester, New York.

Outdoor Activities

Bird watching, bicycling, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and many other recreational activities are popular on the tranquil Honeoye Lake.

Due to restricted boat sizes, the waters are peaceful and calm, and there is always an abundance of picturesque nature to enjoy. It is an excellent escape from the busier waters on some of the other Finger Lakes.

Honeoye Lake Inlet Wildlife Management Area encompasses 1,977 acres of land just south of Honeoye Lake. This area is the perfect area for residents to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting/trapping, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

Usually, Honeoye Lake freezes completely in the winter and creates the perfect setting for ice fishing, snowmobiling, and ice skating.

A popular activity for lake residents is to walk/hike the entire loop around the lake. Depending on the pace, you can easily make it around the whole lake in a day.

Due to the high volume of tourism this area garners, there is plenty of outdoor recreation, entertainment, events, wineries, restaurants, museums, and shopping for you to enjoy.

You can take a Finger Lakes Wine tour, visit the Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Site, or enjoy the local events. This community has plenty to do for everyone.

At the beginning of spring in March, Bristol Mountain hosts a Spring Carnival Weekend celebrating winter's last hurrah. Many Skiers welcome Spring's start by partaking in activities such as snow volleyball, tubing, and the slush cup.

Also, in March, visitors can take part in Maple Weekend activities at one of the many maple farms throughout Ontario County.

Sweet Like Honey

Whether you are looking to buy a family home, a full-time retirement residence, or a vacation rental, Honeoye Lake is an excellent choice.
