Conveniently located in a hub of lake activity, Lake Kanasatk sits between Winnipesaukee Lake and Squam Lake. Places like EM Heath Supermarket, Center Harbour Inn, Meredith Village Bank, and Center Harbor Church sit just below the south side of the lake.
At 70 miles from Portsmouth, the lakers also have easy access to Hampton Beach, the Portsmouth International Airport, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Lake Kanasatka stretches for 2 miles and covers 371 acres. Its crystal-like waters have an average depth of 18 feet but can reach up to 40 feet.
This beautiful lake attracts a variety of wildlife; you can commonly hear and see the loons swimming about the lake, or occasionally see a fox or moose on the wooded shoreline.
You will see all kinds of watercraft at Lake Kanasatka: pontoons, fishing boats, jet skis, motorboats, kayaks, canoes, or paddle boats. Fishers love coming to the lake for a peaceful atmosphere with excellent fishing opportunities. It is a warm water fishery, holding largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, chain pickerel, white perch, sunfish, and brown bullhead.
When the lake freezes, it turns into a beautiful winter landscape for sports like snowmobiling or snowshoeing. The north side of the lake is home to two residential summer camps, Camp Quinebarge and Camp Hawkeye.
Center Harbour has the Canoe Restaurant & Tavern, Lemongrass Restaurant, Dewey’s Ice Cream Parlor & Cafe, or Rubbin’ Butts BBQ to meet anyone’s cravings after a day on the water.
Make the drive to Portsmouth for its greatest attraction, Hampton Beach, honored as one of the four cleanest beaches of the United States. Portsmouth also has the Water Country Water Park, Prescott Park, Moffatt-Ladd House, and Garden, Blitz Air Park, and more.
At Lake Kanasatka, you get to enjoy the peace of a smaller-sized lake that still offers a range of lake activities year-round.
