About Lake Leelanau
Leelanau is Peninsula Paradise

Lake Leelanau is located in the Northwestern Peninsula of Michigan in the Leelanau Peninsula in Leelanau County.

The north end of the lake is approximately one mile from Lake Michigan and the south end of the lake lies in the Cedar Community located in Solon Township.

Long Lake Leelanau

The entire lake, which is divided into two bodies of water, North Lake Leelanau and South Lake Leelanau, is 21 miles long and only 1.5 miles at its widest point.

Between North Lake Leelanau and South Lake Leelanau the water narrows for about a mile near the community of Lake Leelanau.

Natural Lake Leelanau is fed by a series of freshwater spring creeks making the water quality of the lake incredibly high.

Cherrys, Fishing and Vineyards

This lake is a popular pick for vacationers because of its separate narrows that allow for both warm and cold water fishing. The lake offers many camping and boating opportunities as well.

Lake Leelanau is only 21.2 miles away from Traverse City, home of the national Cherry Festival each July.

There are also several orchards and vineyards nearby including Bel Lago Vinyards and Noverr Farms both just off the lake. These vinyards are possible due to the rich soil of Michigan.

The area is not only rich in soil but also in dive bars and restaurants such as Fig's Lake Leelanau, a local favorite.
