About Lake Ponte Vedra

A Short Trip From Jacksonville and St. Augustine

Lake Ponte Vedra is located in St. Johns County across the road from Florida's coast. This lake is also known as Guana Lake, directly connecting to the Guana River, which covers 73,256 acres. On the eastern side of the lake runs Florida State Road A1A.

Paddling, Fishing, Boating, and More

Lake Ponte Vedra is an excellent place for fishing because of its shallow waters. Boating is permitted, but those with motors must stay under a maximum speed limit. This lake is freshwater, but as you move down the Guana River, the water becomes salty.

Redfish, SeaTrout, Black Drum, and Flounder are all found in the shallow waters of Lake Ponte Vedra and the Guana River area.

The Guana River Wildlife Management Area spans the western shore of the Guana River. Visitors will find waterfowl hunting, fishing, paddling, wildlife viewing, and miles of scenic roads for hiking and horseback riding.

Top Sights in Ponte Vedra Beach

Mickler's Landing and Beach are right across from Lake Ponte Vedra. Visitors report that this spot is an excellent place to find sharks teeth on the beach.

Right up the road from Lake Ponte Vedra is Bird Island Park. The park is home to native birds, a maze, and beautiful scenery, and this attraction is a great place to enjoy a relaxing day.

St. Augustine offers a long list of exciting attractions for people of all ages. Founded in 1565 by the Spanish, this city comes with a lot of history.

The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine is the oldest masonry fort in the United States. At over 315 years old, visitors who walk through the fortress walls are taking a trip through history.

The Perfect Place to Experience Lake Life

Whether you are looking to buy a family home, a full-time retirement residence, or find a vacation rental, Lake Ponte Vedra is an excellent choice.
