Savage Lake - Little Canada

Savage Lake is located in Little Canada, Minnesota, 5 minutes from downtown St. Paul and 15 minutes outside the heart of Minneapolis. The closest major airport is Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, which is typically 16 minutes away. Urgent care can be provided at M Health Fairview St. John’s Hospital, 10 minutes away. Snacks and groceries can be found at Cub-Maplewood West, 3 minutes away. Many highly rated restaurants are nearby, such as Porterhouse Steak and Seafood Restaurant, and Tongue in Cheek.

Lake Life

Divided into two different lakes, West Savage Lake is 17 acres while East Savage Lake is 10 acres. These small private lakes offer the opportunity to relax and enjoy nature. Motorboats are not allowed, but kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boating are great ways to enjoy the water. Fishing is not popular here, but any angler can try their luck. Fish common in the area are largemouth bass, musky, northern pike, and panfish. For the full lake experience, take a short drive to Gervais Lake, part of the Phalen Chain of Lakes. Water access for Gervais Lake can be found on Spoon Lake off of Arcade road.

Finally, for outdoor recreation and scenic nature, check out Minnehaha Park. This is the oldest park in Minneapolis and boasts 193 acres, numerous scenic trails, limestone bluffs, a 53-foot waterfall, picnic pavilions, bike rentals, and an off-leash dog park.
