Portage Lake is located in Bay Lake Township, Minnesota, just under an hour and a half from St. Cloud. The city of Brainerd is only 20 minutes away. There are a few smaller airfields nearby, but for major airports, Minneapolis-St Paul International and Duluth International are both two hours away. Urgent care can be provided at Essential Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center, 20 minutes away. Snacks and groceries can be found at Garrison Family Foods, a ten-minute drive away. Lake Days

At 274 acres, opportunities for fun are endless on Portage Lake. Popular ways to enjoy the water include boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and fishing. There is no direct public access to Portage Lake, however, it can be reached through Hanks Lake and Crooked Lake. A public boat ramp is located on Crooked Lake. Anglers looking to cast out a line have a chance to reel in largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill, and walleye.

Visit St Cloud
