The Arrowhead State Snowmobile Trail passes by the lake and connects to many others. It is convenient for offroading during the summer. Voyageurs National Park, the only one in the state, is less than an hour north of the lake. It features multiple lakes, rocky cliffs, hidden waterfalls, and is one of the best locations in the country for viewing the northern lights. The Fortune Bay Casino on Lake Vermillion is only 45 minutes away.
