The emerald waters of Lime Lake are in Murray County, Minnesota. The small town of Avoca borders the lake, where there is a community church, package store, and bar.

Sioux Falls in South Dakota is the largest city nearby. An hour and a half drive will bring you the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, Sanford Medical Center & Hospital, and an abundance of attractions.

Mankato, Minnesota is an equal distance away. There, you can get in on many outdoor activities as well as shopping and dining.

Over 300 Acres of Water

Lime Lake features 316 acres of water with a turquoise hue. It gets its color and its name from the natural limestone around the lake. With a maximum depth of seven feet, it is most famous for kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and paddleboarding.

It holds large populations of northern pike, walleye, and bass, but anglers can catch many other fish species. Lime Like park offers a campground, picnic pavilion, and fishing areas.

Fun Off the Water

Slayton's town is just up the road where there is the Beaver Creek Golf Course, Murray County Speedway, and charming downtown shops.

Lake Shetek, better known as "The Lakes," is under 15 miles north of Lime Lake. The large body of water is active with boating, water skiing, sailing, and more.

Lake Shetek State Park is on its shore. The park offers lake access, a campground, and tons of hiking trails. A causeway will lead you across the lake and into the dense forests of Loon Island.

A Place to Unwind

Lime Lake is just the place you would want to escape to. Its pristine waters are perfect for boating or swimming and make a great view. Larger lakes and fun attractions are minutes away.
