Big cities like St Cloud, Sioux Falls, or Fargo are less than 150 miles away. Ortonville is a nearby city that provides restaurants, grocery establishments, family health centers, and the Ortonville Municipal Airport.

Nearby, Browns Valley, Graceville, Clinton, or Beardsley offer eateries and small-town stores.

Lake of 11,200 Acres

On 11,200 acres of water, you will have plenty of room for boating, fishing, and swimming. The long stretch of water is perfect for speed boating, water skiing, and tubing.

Kayakers and canoers have 35 miles of shore to paddle along; sights of Canadian geese, loons, beavers, and grazing deer are familiar at Lake Traverse.

The lake is known for its trophy-size walleye; most catches range from 12-18 inches. Largemouth bass, northern pike, perch, and other fish species thrive here as well.

Winter Fun and Lakeside Establishments

After a long day on the lake, you can boat over to Lake Traverse Resort Bar & Grill to devour ribs, wings, steak, and more, along with a cold beverage. Lake Traverse County Park has walking trails and great spots for a picnic.

When winter comes around, you can get in on activities like ice skating, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.

Ortonville hosts events year-round, but CornFest is the one you can’t miss. The three-day event includes jamborees, live music, games, and tons of food.
