Lake Saint Croix sits on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border, under 40 miles from Minneapolis. This lake is part of the St. Croix River spanning from Stillwater to Prescott.

The Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport is under 35 miles away, and the Hudson Hospital is five miles away on the Wisconsin side.

The St. Croix River area has been inhabited for around 10,000 years, with many architectural sites like burial mounds, village sites, and grain processing areas being found all along the river. The Ojibway and Dakota traveled the river for fur trading with colonial settlers and fur trappers.

Lake Saint Croix spans 7696 acres with a maximum depth of 60 feet. There's plenty of room for recreation and relaxation.

Popular activities include boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and relaxing on the shoreline. There are multiple beaches, parks, fishing areas, and access points for residents to use.

When fishing on the lake, anglers can find walleye, sauger, northern pike, muskellunge, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, white bass, and lake sturgeon.

There are several boat access points to explore the water. Residents can use the Boom Site Access along Highway 95; St. Croix Bluffs County Park; the road adjacent to Anderson Windows in Bayport; Bayport Marine; Windmill Marina; Beanie's Resort; and additional facilities on the Wisconsin side.

For anglers looking to toss out a line from the shore, there are designated spots for them to stop. Anglers can use King Plant Electrical Generating Facility off Highway 95; Lowell Park in Stillwater; Hudson City Park in Hudson, Wisconsin; St. Croix Bluffs County Park; and Point Douglas County Park.
