A Stunning Body of Water

Lake Ida is the second largest lake in Douglas County, covering 4,426 acres and 106 feet. Since the lake sits in northern Alexandria, you will never be far from restaurants, shops, attractions, or the Douglas County Hospital.

All Kinds of Lake Fun

Lake Ida has been a lake activity source for over 100 years; fishing resorts and other clubs were located around the water as early as 1902.

Pontooning, water skiing, tubing, sailing, and fishing are some of the activities you will see on Lake Ida today. From the docks, residents enjoy overlooking the lake, dipping in the water, and watching the sunset.

Anglers have great chances of catching walleye or bass, but many other fish populate the lake.

Local Winery and More

Located on the southeastern shore of the lake, Carlos Creek Winery offers more than your typical winery. The winery provides tours and tastings, other events like live music, markets, events, and weddings.

At Lake Carlos State Park, you have access to many park trails used for hiking, biking, and birdwatching. In the winter, they turn into trails for cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.

The park also has a beach, boat ramp, and fishing piers on Lake Carlos. The lands are also used for hunting; the park will make designated areas throughout the season for hunters to use.

Fun Events

For the 4th of July, many of Alexandria’s Lakes host boat parades and firework displays. The most famous is the Lake Darling Firework Show that happens every year.

Other events include New Years’ Eve bashes, the Alexandria Annual Fair, Ice and Lights, Christmas tree lighting, and more.
