Faille Lake - Osakis

Faille Lake is part of Gordon Township, Minnesota, under 20 miles from Alexandria. For a big-city trip, St Cloud is just over 60 miles away.

The Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport and Hector International Airport are under 140 miles from the lake area. There are several hospitals within 20 miles, including Alomere Health, Alexandria Clinic, and CentraCare - Sauk Centre.

Days On The Water

Faille Lake spans 70 acres and offers residents plenty of opportunities for recreation and relaxation.

There is plenty to do on the water between Faille Lake, Lake Carlos State Park, and surrounding areas. Whether owned or rented, some activities offered are boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and sunbathing at the beach!

The beach on Lake Carlos is shallow and perfect for families to relax and splash in the water. The beach has a volleyball court, picnic tables, and parking on site! The park also provides a lazy river that is perfect for floating along or relaxing while tubing!

While shallow, Faille Lake is still very much fishable. The most popular species caught here is smallmouth bass.

For more extensive fishing, Lake Carlos State Park has you covered! Lake Carlos has the third-largest surface area of all of the Sentinel Lakes and is the second deepest. The variety of fish is relatively diverse and includes cold water and warm water species. Largemouth bass and northern pike are abundant, but the lake has a lower biological carrying capacity for large game fish due to its lesser fertile waters.

Walking On Land

Between Faille Lake, Lake Carlos State Park, and surrounding areas, there is plenty to do on those days you would rather stay on dry land!

Sculpted by ancient glaciers, Lake Carlos State Park contains tamarack bog, marshes, and woodland ponds to explore! The park offers camping, hiking, biking, birdwatching, horseback riding, and skiing. Hidden Lake Trail is a popular trail at the park, where you will find an old-growth forest, wildflowers, birds, and even bald eagle nests!

Visit St Cloud

St Cloud is a beautiful city filled with historical, cultural, recreational activities to excite every visitor. From family-friendly sites to a night out on the town, this area is not one to miss.

Munsinger Gardens is a spectacular and beautiful garden next to the Mississippi River. These gardens are known for their shade-loving plants, including numerous hostas and ferns.

Stearns History Museum offers an extensive lineup of programs, events, and attractions for visitors about the history of people, places, and stories in Central Minnesota. Outside, there is an 80-acre nature park with walking trails, wildlife, and a skateboard park.

Beaver Islands Trail is a great spot for biking and hiking with excellent views of the Mississippi River.
