Lake Chatuge is known for having breathtaking views, and can be found nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia.
Originally constructed for flood control, the Chatuge Dam was built on the Hiawassee River and completed in 1942. Although the dam is located in North Carolina, Lake Chatuge stretches thirteen miles to the southeast into Georgia, located in between Nottely Lake and Lake Burton.
Fishing is very popular on Lake Chatuge, with species of largemouth bass, spotted bass, hybrid bass, bluegill, and catfish being common.
Lake Chatuge has countless inlets and coves throughout its 130 miles of shoreline providing ample opportunity for swimming, boating, fishing and water sports.
