Island Lake

Florence Lake is on the eastern side of Anderson Island, found in the southern portion of Puget Sound. The lake is west of Ketron Island and south of Mcneil Island. The lake provides ample water access to its residents and guests. It is close to Puget Sound and is a short drive away from another large lake, Josephine Lake.

Florence Lake is also close enough to Tacoma for individuals to spend time there who are looking to get away from the lake for the day. Anderson Island is around an hour and 30 minutes away from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport.

Lake of Recreation

Due to its close vicinity to other water bodies and places of interest, visitors of Florence Lake have plenty of opportunities to get out of the house.

Near the lake on Anderson Island are various venues and attractions, such as the Riviera Golf Club, Lakeshore Restaurant, and the Riviera Boat Launch & Marina. These three venues are all within driving distance of both Florence Lake and Josephine Lake.

Two parks sit to the west of the lake: Jane Common Park and Andy’s Park. The Riviera Campground is also available for visitors of Anderson Island looking to spend more time with nature.

A short trip across Puget Sound lies even more recreation opportunities.

The Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, located south of the island on Nisqually Reach, provides various nature activities for its visitors. The refuge is home to many animal species, including different birds, fish, beavers, seals, and weasels. There is also hiking available throughout the sanctuary. Bird watching and nature viewing are popular throughout the park.

There are many golf courses for golfers to enjoy nearby. While there is one course on Anderson Island, there are also two courses across Nisqually Reach. The Home Course and Eagle’s Pride Golf Course are within the vicinity of Florence Lake and Anderson Island.

Social Lake

Residents and guests of Florence Lake can discover that there is a large social atmosphere nearby. Within the small communities surrounding the lake and the larger cities surrounding the islands are various social settings and venues that individuals can partake in.
