South Pond is in Stark, New Hampshire, not far from the Vermont border. For city trips, Augusta and Portland are under 125 miles away.

The Portland International Jetport is under 115 miles away, and there are two hospitals around 20 miles away: Weeks Medical Center and Androscoggin Valley Hospital.

On the Water Fun

Spanning only 109 acres with a maximum depth of 95 feet, South Pond provides its residents with a comfortable, private place to relax.

Popular activities include boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and taking in the views. Many homes have docks, but a public access point is on the western side of the water.

Anglers can find eastern brook trout, rainbow trout, lake trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, eastern chain pickerel, brown bullhead, burbot, and yellow perch.

One popular attraction is Frost Place, where visitors can learn all about American poet Robert Frost through several displays about his life.

The nearby city of Portland, Maine is teeming with history, great food, and museums.

A great draw is Old Port. This neighborhood has cobblestone roads and still features some original buildings from the 19th century. With great shopping and only steps away from the wharf, which brings in some of the best seafood in the world, Old Port is a must-visit destination.

Consider going on one of Portland’s many brewery tours or visiting the Portland Museum of Art. Featuring artists such as Andy Warhol and Claude Monet, this museum’s website states that with more than 18,000 pieces, it would take visitors almost 10 years to see everything in the museum.

Built in 1807, the Portland Observatory is the country’s last remaining maritime signal tower. At a height of 86 feet, the observatory offers great views of the coastline and the city.
