Third-Deepest Lake in the U.S.

Providing a gateway to North Cascades National Park, Lake Chelan is a narrow, 50-mile-long lake considered the third-deepest lake in the United States. With a maximum depth of 1,486 feet, Lake Chelan gets its name from the Salish Indigenous word meaning "Deep Water." Due to its deep water, watersports are very popular on the lake.

Don't forget your fishing rod because you'll find many great fishing spots throughout the lake. Lake Chelan is known for its abundance of fishing with native fish like bull trout and mountain whitefish and introduced fish like rainbow trout and chinook salmon. In 2013, the state record for the largest lake trout was set on Lake Chelan.
