Lake Inez

Missoula County, Montana

Lake Inez is a 288-acre lake in the Steely Swan Valley, between Lake Alva and Seeley Lake. Missoula is 60.24 miles away, perfect for a day trip.

It is 10 minutes from Seeley Swan Medical Center and an hour from Providence St. Patrick Hospital. It is also an hour from Missoula International Airport, and 12 minutes from Cory’s Valley Market.

Lake Activities

Anglers on the lake can expect to catch brook trout, brown trout, bull trout, kokanee, largescale sucker, longnose sucker, mountain whitefish, northern pike, northern pikeminnow, and pumpkinseed.

Other popular lake activities include boating and canoeing, and there’s a boat launch on the campgrounds on the north side of the lake.

The Great Outdoors

The Seeley Swan Valley is home to many snowmobiling and cross-country skiing opportunities when the air gets cold. Skiers and snowboarders can take in the beautiful Montana wilderness matted with a blanket of white snow.

The Lake Inez Campground is a small campground on the north side of the lake with sites rentable for a small fee.

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Area consists of over one million acres of scenic landscape unscathed by humans. It is a congressionally designated wilderness area named after an early forester, conservationist, and co-founder of the Wilderness Society.

Aside from formal attractions, there are a ton of waterfalls in the area for adventures to explore.

Explore Missoula

Missoula is one of Montana’s largest cities and is a doable drive from Lake Inez. It has numerous opportunities for unique dining and entertainment.

It is home to a monumental number of breweries. Bayern Brewing is the oldest active brewery in the state, and Big Sky Brewing is the state’s largest brewery and produces the renowned Moose Drool Brown Ale.

Missoula is also home to the University of Montana, the state's flagship institution and home of the Montana Grizzlies, one of the most dominant football teams in the NCAA Big Sky Conference.

Missoula’s two legendary art museums, the Montana Museum of Art and Culture and the Missoula Museum of Art are bound to excite art enthusiasts.

The city’s premier festival, the River City Roots Festival, is held annually in August and loaded with beer, food, and art.
