Located in Adams County, Wisconsin

Altoona Lake 830, also known as Lake Sherwood, is located in Rome, Wisconsin. Wisconsin Rapids is 15 minutes north, Madison is 100 miles south, and Milwaukee is 168 miles southeast.

There are a few smaller airfields nearby, but the closest major airport is Appleton International Airport, typically an hour and a half drive. Urgent care can be provided at Gunderson Moundview Hospital, 19 minutes away.

Snacks and groceries can be found at a Walmart SuperCenter, 15 minutes away. Many highly rated restaurants are nearby, such as Aldo’s Farm & Table and Lake Sherwood Lodge.

Lake Life

At 216 acres, Altoona Lake 830 offers countless ways to have fun. Popular ways residents enjoy the lake are boating, tubing, skiing, and fishing. A public boat landing can be found on the western end of the lake. Anglers looking to toss a line have a chance to reel in largemouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and panfish.

Fun Off The Water

For an off-road adventure, head over to Dyracuse Park for some fun. This park is home to 334 acres of land for motorcycles and ATVs. Providing more than ten miles of trails, a peewee track, and two motocross tracks, this park is a fun day out for off-roading enthusiasts. When taking a break from the excitement, explore the lookout tower sitting atop Dyracuse mound.

Daycation at the Waterpark Capital of the World, Wisconsin Dells. Within less than an hour's drive, you will feel you are in another world. There is so much to do in this amusement center of Wisconsin. Home to the largest waterpark in the US, Noah’s Ark has more than 50 slides and two waves pools, offering fun for the whole family.

Aside from the parks, downtown Wisconsin Dells has numerous shops and eateries to check out. If there is time left in the day, take a ride on a Duck or jet boat down the Wisconsin River. Don’t forget to pack extra clothes, just in case!
