At the mouth of the Peshekee River on Lake Michigamme, sits one of the largest log structures in the State of Michigan. A breathtaking large scale, vernacular, rustic log resort constructed in 1934. It was built of local materials by Finnish craftsmen as the Sam Cohodas Wilderness Camp. Sam was a successful U.P. businessman and philanthropist. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This rustic beauty was designed for entertaining, relaxation and enjoying all that the Upper Peninsula's outdoors has to offer. Currently it is set up to easily sleep 14 people, not including the bonus space above the garage. The great room is breathtaking with its stone fireplace and classic charm. Lakeside is the Bar Room and indoor sitting area just off the patio and deck. The dining room and kitchen overlook the West end of the lake. The lakeside den, "Sam's Room", looks to the South. Up either staircase are the six bedrooms and three baths. The grounds feature a gated entry, circle drive, oversized two car attached garage as well as an additional two car garage.
