Lake Lariat is located in the city of Lusby in southern Calvert County. The 90-acre body of water lies in the Patuxent River watershed and is owned and operated by the Chesapeake Ranch Estates community.

The Chesapeake Ranch Estates community is home to over 12,000 people, many of them being military families due to the proximity to Naval Air Station Patuxent River.
