Lake Shafer

35 Miles to Lafayette, Indiana

Lake Shafer has a surface area of 2.02 square miles and is one of two lakes in the Twin Lakes area of Monticello, Indiana. It was created in 1920, along with Lake Freeman, when two dams were built outside Monticello on the Tippecanoe River.

Lake Schafer is the more commercialized of the two lakes, mainly due to the Indiana Beach Amusement Park & Camp-Resort.

Residents can take a dip in the lake, a trip on the boat, or a cast of the line is possible on Lake Shafer. Pontoon boats are a popular favorite for cruising Lake Shafer.

On the western shore is the Tippecanoe Golf Course. This club is semi-private, meaning it is open to the public, so those who would like can come and play the 18-hole course, golf leagues, and the bar & grill.

For the avid fishermen or the occasional hobbyist, you can catch catfish, crappie, bluegill, carp, bass, and much more.
