About Lake Sinclair

Beautiful Lake in Central Georgia

Covering more than 15,000 acres in central Georgia, Lake Sinclair has more than 400 miles of shoreline in Putnam, Baldwin and Hancock counties. Milledgeville, a city of almost 20,000, is about three miles away.

Lake Sinclair was created in 1953 when Georgia Power built Sinclair Dam on the Oconee River.

It offers consistent water levels year-round. In addition to the Oconee, Lake Sinclair is fed by a dozen creeks and small rivers.

Great Residential Property With Dynamic Scenery

Lake Sinclair is primarily used by full-time residents and regulars who house their watercraft long-term on the lake.

The shore is particularly scenic, with a number of winding coves and inlets.

The mild climate of central Georgia makes Lake Sinclair enjoyable from early spring into late fall.

Favorite Spot for Fishermen of All Levels

Lake Sinclair has been the site of both large national fishing tournaments and smaller local competitions.

There is excellent fishing for largemouth bass on the lake, as well as trophy-potential striped bass and channel catfish, abundant bream and crappie of more than two pounds.

There are parks and marinas with pier fishing, dozens of excellent areas for bank fishing, and ongoing efforts to maintain and expand fish habitats.

Great Boating, Camping and Handicap Access

One of Georgia%apos;s most popular boating spots, Lake Sinclair has public boat ramps operated by the state of Georgia's Wildlife Resources and Georgia Power.

Known for its many inlets, Lake Sinclair has several large stretches of open water.

There are several recreation areas featuring picnic tables and grills, and two parks with beaches. There are more than a dozen campsites, most handicap-accessible.
