Lake Weohyakapka is a freshwater, spring-fed lake located in Polk County, Florida. The body of water is part of the lower Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and known as the largest lake in Polk County.

Lake Weohyakapka's name comes from the Creek language, meaning "Walking on Water," hence the lake's alternate name "Walk-in-Water."

The lake is just a an hour and a half from Tampa and Orlando's notable theme parks and minutes away from the City of Lake Wales.

Covers More Than 7,000 Acres

Lake Weohyakapka is 7,528 acres, with a maximum depth of 12 feet and an average depth of five feet.

The water body is popular for its translucent waters, cattail, bulrush and hydrilla plants that attract its bass population.

The lake is managed by the South Florida Water Management District, which oversees water resources from Orlando to the Florida Keys.

Lake Weohyakapka is nationally known for trophy largemouth bass fishing. Other popular sport fish in this lake are shad, bluegill and sunfish.
