
Located in northeast Alabama on the Alabama-Georgia border, Weiss Lake covers some 30,200 acres and offers close to 450 miles of shoreline. Formed from the waters of the Coosa, Chattooga, and Little Rivers, Weiss Lake was created in1961 and named after F.C. Weiss, who was Alabama Power's Chief Engineer at the time. Known as the "Crappie Capital o fthe World," Weiss Lake offers some very attractive fishing opportunities to those throughout the Southeast. The best time for fishing crappie is said to be between February and May of each year.
