Created by an Earth-Filled Dam

The Bistone Dam is a 1,645-foot long embankment that was completed in June of 1961.

This serene lake covers 1,048 acres and has a maximum depth of 20 feet.

Boating, Fishing and Swimming

All kinds of watercraft are permitted on Lake Mexia, such as pontoons, fishing boats, ski boats, sailboats, canoes, and kayaks.

The boat docks and piers around the lake make for great white crappie fishing, but there is also a plentiful stock of channel catfish, blue catfish, largemouth bass, and white bass.

Fort Parker State Park on Lake Mexia provides great swimming locations, campsites, hiking and biking trails, picnic locations, and nature watching spots.

Happening in Waco

The Magnolia Market and Silos are a popular tourist attraction owned by Chip and Joanna Gaines, who host the HGTV show Fixer Upper.

The site in Downtown Waco includes the Magnolia Silos, bakery, market, and bed and breakfast.

The 52-acre Cameron Park Zoo is another great attraction; with 1,731 animals of 300 different species, there is something to wow the whole family.

A golfer would enjoy the 18-hole, Par 72 Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
