Detroit Lakes Area real estate Brainerd Lakes Real Estate

The mid-western portion of Minnesota is made up of nearly limitless lakes dotting the deep forests and open plains. These are the areas where many of Minnesota's family resorts still remain intact, offering enjoyable experiences year after year to countless kids and their parents. Sandy beaches, active fishing holes and quiet lakes are the perfect mix for relaxation at its best.

Park Rapids is just south of famous Itasca State Park. Nevis, Akely, Osage and Lake George are all tiny resort communities within a short drive of Park Rapids, each harboring its own lakes and vacation fun. Park Rapids has an attractive downtown shopping district and is the area hub. It is surrounded by dense pine forests, some of the last while heading west toward the open plains of North Dakota. Waterfront real estate in Hubbard County is still relatively low, but is rising fast because of the area's beauty.

Detroit Lakes is the last waterfront mecca before Fargo, and is a popular vacation destination for North Dakota residents. Less wooded than Park Rapids, it is filled with busy lakes that are visible from long distances. Detroit Lakes has always been known as a fun place to hang out during the summer months, and its beaches and lakeside restaurants maintain that spirit today.

Traveling south from Detroit Lakes, you will have to wind around 1,000 lakes in Ottertail County on your way to Fergus Falls. About three hours from the Twin Cities, it is the next stop past Alexandria, and is becoming just about as popular…although waterfront real estate prices are still a bit lower. Towns like Battle Lake, Perham and Pelican Rapids are busy summer ports for pontoon boat captains on their way to a steak dinner and a drink.

You will find most properties for the Park Rapids Area in the Brainerd Lakes Listings, but look in the Twin Cities Listing for some of the lake properties in Ottertail County and Detroit Lakes.
