History of Trout Lake

Trout Lake served as a water source for Hastings Mills boilers until the city built its water system in the 1800s. During cold winters, the lake became a famous ice skating rink. Aldeyn Hendry Hamber donated the land surrounding the lake in 1960. Since WWII, Trout Lake has provided East Vancouver's only beach.
