Lake Hartwell is considered to be among the best water  skiing, boating and fishing sites in both Georgia and South Carolina.  In 2008, Lake Hartwell hosted the Bassmasters Classic further  solidifying itself as particularly excellent fishing site. The Tugaloo River section of  the lake is probably the most famous spot for skiing and tubing due to  its considerably clear and calm waters. Sailing enthusiasts are  recommended to venture toward the "Big Water" area of thelake.
