Cambridge / Mora, Minnesota

About the Area

The communities of Cambridge and Mora have long benefited from their placement along Highway 65, which is the most direct route straight north of Minneapolis. Cambridge, partially because of its additional east-west route of Highway 95, has grown into a bustling hub community over the past ten years, while Mora has maintained its small town character due to its extra distance from the metro area.

This region, in Isanti and Kanabec Counties, has an array of recreational lakes. The deepest and clearest, although not extremely large, is Spectacle Lake. It has well established lake property values because of its quality and convenient location less than ten miles west of Cambridge. Other popular recreational water bodies near Cambridge are Fannie Lake, Skogman Lake, and Green Lake - the largest in the area at about 800 acres.

Just a few miles to the south is another small town along the Highway 65 corridor. Isanti's downtown has kept its distance from the highway, in favor of a quieter business district. Several recreational lakes sit just to its west, such as Lake Francis, Long Lake, German Lake and Blue Lake.

Traveling north from Cambridge past Granby and Braham, you'll begin to feel the pull of the Twin Cities disappear in your rearview mirror. Soon you will enter Mora, with its well maintained downtown just a block or two off the main drag. Although Knife Lake is still a few miles up the road, its 1,200 acres are a constant boost to the local economy as the main water body in the area. There is an abundance of both lakefront cabins and year-round lake homes here that vary greatly in lot size and elevation.

You will also find waterfront properties on a few other lakes in the Mora and Ogilvie Area, such as Ann Lake and Lewis Lake. And there are several rivers such as the Snake River, Groundhouse River and Ann River where recreational land can be found.
